Three Tools to Make Shelter-at-Home a Positive Experience
These days you are stuck at home. You are looking for something to do so you open your web browser and are faced with disturbing coronavirus news. You turn on the TV and are faced with disturbing coronavirus news. It seems every direction you turn you are faced with disturbing coronavirus news. Yet, Forbes recently published an article titled, "The Bright Side of Corona: Seven Opportunities of the Current Pandemic."
The second opportunity mentioned is, "Reflect and Reconsider". The author suggests that, "this offers a great opportunity to rethink our habits and routines and make changes." I agree completely. To help you do this, we are providing three of the tools we use in our Financial Life Planning practice that are designed to help people discover what is truly important to them and to build their lives on these key values. Feel free to download these tools and complete them. Then you can take the next step by sending your responses to us and scheduling a free 1/2 hour on-line meeting to discuss your responses.
Here's a brief description of each tool:
Financial Satisfaction Survey
This tool is designed to help you understand how satisfied you are in each of 20 different aspects of your financial life. It will help you realize where your strengths are and what parts of your financial life you will want to work on. If you take time to reflect on why you responded the way you did, you will begin to understand how you can gain better control and thus greater financial satisfaction.
Life Transition Survey
This is a long list of transitions that people may experience during their lifetime. Most of these will not apply to you - just ignore those. For those that do apply, indicate if you are currently experiencing them or if you will in the mid-term or long-term. The key to benefiting from this tool is to think about the impact each of these transitions will have. Then you can think about how you can prepare for each to make the transition as enjoyable as possible.
Wheel of Life
You are presented with 9 different aspects of your life and asked to indicate how satisfied you are in each area. Once you have placed a dot on the appropriate spot on each "spoke" connect the dots. This will give you a good picture of how well your life is balanced. Then you can start to think about what would move your satisfaction level closer to the outer rim.
